Capacity building project – to develop job skills and life skills of university students
Two capacity building projects were undertaken by AEL, namely ‘Job Skills Scholarship Programme’ and ‘Skills for Life Programme’.
The ‘Job Skills Scholarship programme’, implemented through Skills for Success (Pvt) Ltd., involved a series of 10-day career guidance programmes in six districts where we had projects. A total of 400 scholarships were offered. Stage 1 was completed in Jaffna while phase 2 and 3 were held in Batticaloa and Mannar.
The ‘Skills for Life Programme’ involved developing and sponsoring a mentoring programmes for 175 students from two departments (i.e. civil and earth resources) of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa. The course was developed with the assistance of Image Consultants, a leading soft skills development institute.
