Access Engineering PLC; one of the leading pilling contractors in the country has been able to successfully complete the construction of diaphragm wall and contiguous piles for retaining of earth to facilitate foundation construction works in proposed Pearl Grand Tower which is up at Galle Road, Colombo 03.

The proposed Pearl Grand Tower is a 40 storey hotel development which is mounting 140m high in the middle of the commercial city of Colombo. The main contractor of the project is China State Engineering Corporation Limited which has entrusted the shoring works of the project to Access Engineering PLC under the consultation Global Management Consultants.

The scope of the project completed includes 105m long and 27m deep shoring work by erecting a diaphragm wall and a contiguous pile wall and 95m long and 13.5m deep shoring work by erecting a diaphragm wall and contagious pile wall to retain the sides of a relatively shallow excavation.

Access Engineering PLC being graded with P1 highest CIDA grading for pilling, has deployed a modern fleet of pilling machines including a Bauer GB 34 Hydraulic Grab machine for the work running at site. And also as the construction site is located in the middle of a highly commercial environ, Access Engineering construction team has had taken extremely precautionary and safety measures to ensure minimum disturbances occur to the neighborhood and surrounding properties.

Further to the completed project, Access Engineering has been awarded with another contract for the pilling works of the same property. This subsequent contract has been awarded to Access Engineering PLC by the developer of the project which is Pearl grand tower Hotel (Pvt) Ltd and its scope includes construction of 9 Nos of 1500mm diameter piles and 04 Nos of 1800mm diameter piles. This work which commenced in October 2016 is now nearing completion.
