Lunawa Lagoon Dredging Improvements of Sea Outfalls Coastal Project

LUNAWA LAGOON DREDGING IMPROVEMENTS OF SEA OUTFALLS COASTAL PROJECT

  • Client: Ministry of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources
  • Date of commencement: November 11, 2006
  • Date of completion: March 31, 2008
The works consisted of dredging of Lunawa lagoon bed to MSL -1.0m by removing silted sand sediments drifted in to the lagoon by the Tsunami of 2004. In addition, the rock out crop of 2,250m³ had to be blasted and removed. These activities increased the capacity of the lagoon and opened up the sea outfall, improving the quality of water for fishery.
